GSA Safety and Environmental Management Surveys
Washington, D.C.
Stanton Engineering has provided fire safety surveys for a variety of existing government facilities in the NCR, including existing construction and fire systems documentation review, as well as fire codes analysis for compliance. A summary fire protection engineering report with findings and recommendations has been completed for every survey. Over 32 million SF of facilities have been surveyed in the last 20+ years.
The surveyed spaces varied from small tenant spaces to over 2M SF of mixed use occupancies. Many of the surveyed spaces are historic properties. Over 130 Fire Safety Surveys and reports were completed during this time.
Stanton Engineering performed on-site evaluations and inspections of each of the GSA owned or leased spaces. Inspections were thorough and included means of egress, fire protection and alarm systems, standpipe systems, fire extinguishers, fire separations, emergency lighting and power, exit signage, and review of testing documentation. The performance of these inspections results in the ability to develop a test plan to address all relevant code criteria where one is required.
Stanton Engineering performed many elements of a construction engineering inspection program with respect to determining the adequacy of passive fire barrier construction techniques, placement of fire alarm devices, and placement of sprinklers (spacing and degree of obstruction). Completion of corrective actions identified in the test reports provided for review was also evaluated.
